On April 11, 2022, Ferrero Canada Limited’s Kinder brand updated the recall for their multiple products, including Easter Chocolates. These products have been recalled due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recall now includes 23 products.
Kinder brand is known for its milk chocolates consisting of a chocolate egg surrounding a yellow plastic egg-shaped capsule with a small toy inside.
The recalled products were manufactured in Belgium and the recall is voluntary. There have been no reported cases of Salmonella poisoning due to Kinder egg consumption in Canada.

To summarize, the recall included Kinder Surprise 100g, Kinder Mini Eggs, and Kinder Schoko-Bons, and other products containing them. It is noteworthy that the recall did not include Kinder Surprise 20g eggs.
Food contaminated with Salmonella may not appear or smell spoiled but can still make an individual sick. Young children, the elderly, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious infections. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms ranging from nausea and abdominal cramps to fever, vomiting, and diarrhea. Health Canada has advised against the consumption of recalled products.
